Lorene and Jerome Anderson~(Fiction)

"Why so red?," Lorene looked up at a crimson glow in the sky from her kitchen window. It was so unusual....she'd never seen anything like it. She serenely walked to her room and kneeled before the bed.

"Father, who art in Heaven...what is this bright, red glow in the sky tonight?" A warm feeling washed over her, making her feel light-headed. She began to share with Him:

"These last few months since the miscarriage have been very hard for Jerome and me, Father. Playing the blame game is taking it's toll...he's talking about leaving! The pain is so unbearable sometimes. I think maybe we should give it up, move on. He's angry all the time!! He's supposed to be here with me, now, but where is he?" She swept her arm around the room to show Him, Jerome was nowhere to be found. "Help us save our marriage Father. I really don't want him to leave me- send us another baby, please. We've been trying in between the animosity, the hurt, there is still some tenderness and concern, some..."

The ring of the telephone interrupted her sentence. Ordinarily, she wouldn't have stopped her prayer, but she hopped up feeling compelled to answer it. She ran to the phone in the kitchen, stopping to look out the window. The bright red glow had disappeared.

"Hello?"
"Hello, Mrs. Anderson..is that you?"
"Yes, who's calling?"
"This is Dr. Martin?'

She'd gone for her routine GYN exam yesterday. Oh no, what did they find? She felt her hand shaking on the receiver.
"Dr. Martin...what's wrong? Why are you calling me at home after hours?"
He sensed the panic in her voice.
"No, no calm down, it's good news! Well, I hope it'll be. Tests reveal you're SIX WEEKS PREGNANT!"
He heard a loud thud on the other end of the receiver.
"Hello, hello, Mrs. Anderson, are you still there? Mrs. Anderson???????
